Our TOS Superintendent Thies Kegge joined the Mont Mandara on the first leg of her voyage to Rotterdam. Read all about his story.
The COVID-19 pandemic made it challenging to start new projects. But on 21 July we flew to Poland for a new project. Equipped with a TOS face mask, I travelled with my colleague Myron Dam (Superintendent), Piet Smit (Captain) and Roy Hollander (Chief Engineer) to Berlin. From there, we arrived in Świnoujście (Poland) the next morning and embarked the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) Mont Mandara built by IHC. In just a few days, we reflagged and prepared the vessel for the first leg of her journey to Rotterdam.
SECOND OFFICER: MONT MANDARA
For this voyage I had the opportunity to experience a ship delivery project as a crew member. Normally I prepare the ship delivery projects as a superintendent, but this time I was on board as a second officer. On board I took care of the voyage preparations and safety equipment. I also had the chance to see and learn how my close colleague Myron prepared the ship delivery project. On Friday 24 July at 23:00 we released all the lines and set sail for Rotterdam. I was scheduled on the ‘dog watch’. It was nice to sail again after so long. Luckily the weather was good, and the sea was calm. Early in the morning of 4 August we arrived at the entrance to the Port of Rotterdam.
YOUR DESTINATION IS OUR CHALLENGE
We are experienced in the relocation of all types of vessels. For an all-in price and with clear terms and conditions, we can take care of flag state registration, certification, ISM and instruction of the new crew in preparation of handing over the vessel.
