‘I have really enjoyed being at sea for six years now. Four years ago, TOS matched me with a position as Engineer at Allseas, where I became an employee after just a few trips. Some projects were very memorable, such as the project just off the coast of Norway (from Nyhamna to a platform North of the Arctic Circle). During this time, we worked for longer periods with the same group of colleagues. We worked well together, and there was a good atmosphere on board. For part of the trip, the sun didn’t even set. But when it did, we saw the Northern Lights. Very special!’ tells Kolijn Venema.

In 2003, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Officer. My first job was as Assistant Engineer on the Holland America Line. Next, I worked as an Engineer in the dredging industry – a job that I enjoyed immensely. After several years I had had enough of “life at sea” and I wanted to make the transition to shore.
