Over the last couple of weeks, we have worked hard to find ways to get our crew home safely. But also to get our colleagues back to work. After many organisational hurdles behind the scenes, we managed to arrange a charter flight and repatriate more than fifty crew members from Lagos, Nigeria.
OFFSHORE WIND CAREER FROM RIGGER, MECHANIC TO …
Working offshore means working in exceptional circumstances so you need to do safety training first. Once you’ve done courses like basic offshore, banksmen, rigging and slinging, you’re qualified to go. TOS helped me and I was soon ready to start.
ALLROUND CAPTAIN PATRIK

Smooth delivery to Guatemala
Barnhoorn: ‘Since this is a voyage of more than 7,000 nautical miles, the vessel has to sail for approximately 45 days. It’s a relatively long journey for such a small but powerful tug. The living area on board is limited for such a period.
TOS CZECH REPUBLIC – 15 YEARS!
TOS CZECH REPUBLIC – 15 YEARS!: Fifteen years ago, TOS opened her first branch office in Decin, Czech Republic. Branch Manager Rudolf Žák: ‘The company was officially registered in May 2005. I had worked on seagoing ships for 5 years and on inland shipping vessels for more than 13 years. And I was looking for a job onshore. TOS and I met, and we came soon to an agreement. Quickly, I found an office in Decin, and we started to select sea and inland nautical staff, as well as technical staff with the right maritime papers. Since that time, our office staff has increased from one person to three. We support Siebelina Ooms at the TOS HQ in finding the right candidates for our inland shipping clients and other departments throughout the Maritime sector!’
TOS Captain Piet delivers survey vessel
Survey Vessel: ‘After a thorough preparation by the TOS delivery team, we depart on 20 October from Schiphol to Vigo. The next day, I explore the vessel together with Thies Kegge, Superintendent at TOS. We also stock up on supplies. The crew is busy carrying out the necessary safety drills and taking inventory of the equipment. It will still be a few days before we leave. The Sabah has been reflagged for delivery, but the new certificates are not yet ready. Fortunately, there is always a silver lining. During the wait, TOS delivery captain Tjalling appears in the Vigo port. What are the odds of running into a colleague! Tjalling is on a Damen delivery from Vietnam to Gorinchem, the Netherlands. He has had especially bad weather for weeks. After a good night’s sleep, we meet the next day on the Sabah for coffee. It was nice to catch up!’

It was the Day of the Seafarer. Because of this day TOS asked their employees to make a fun/original picture of themselves at work for TOS They had to upload the picture at ‘TOS was here’. The most original picture would receive flowers at any given address and a special prize. Klaas Jan Tuinstra sent in a great picture and we chose him to be the winner. He won an iPod Nano and we have sent the flowers to his mother for her birthday. Klaas Jan informed us he is very happy with the iPod Nano!
